It is also true for ongoing services such as education, medical care, etc. Post-scarcity goods and services will be labeled as such and will not require written claims, or evaluations of claim-strength, and all such orders will simply be filled. However, the ratings system can still watch this activity for evidence of hoarding, or other malfeasance, and step in to call it out.

A prosperous enough society will conceivably reach a post-scarcity situation in almost all its goods and services. Dan mentioned at one point, somewhat tongue in cheek, that we are designing utopia. But what is our definition of utopia? I think it would be a good idea to have folks describe their thoughts on this. Mine are below.

Utopia permits personal freedom of choice, expression, and action. The only constraints on these involve interactions and effects on others.
|

|
|
|
|
Utopia, mostly through personal choice and consensus, distributes its wealth equitably. It minimizes the distinction between haves and have-nots and maintains inequality only to the extent that it motivates people to perform at their best. Utopia places a high value on providing "essential" goods and services to everyone: food, shelter, education, medical care, etc.

Utopia dissolves sub-optimal systems naturally through a ratings-based consensus process. The private health insurance and medical care system of the US would be replaced. The currently legal but corrupt system of money in politics would be eliminated. <h3>MOTIVATION TO COOPERATE</h3>

Let's look at a very small society of 3 people who rate each other and deliver economic benefits to each other. We will call them Jack, Jill, and Mike. Jack and Jill both score Mike low but score each other high. Mike has good reason to be scored low. He's dishonest, doesn't work very hard, and tries to take advantage of others. He resents his low score and scores Jack and Jill low too. The ratings system is completely open and transparent. The question is how do Jack and Jill rehabilitate Mike? This small society is economically independent and is reliant on the output of all three people. Suppose Jack provides the food, Jill the clothes, and Mike the homes. Food, clothing, and shelter are all anyone needs in this society.

So in a completely open system, Mike would see all the ratings but he could rate his ratings. Sociopaths will always exist, however, and a society can only treat this with proper attention to mental health and, for those actively dangerous to others, isolation.
