I've managed to get most of the tests to succeed but not all (though this was the case with the current Master branch).

I've added a few lines to .gitignore to keep Mac and VSCode files out of the repo.

I'm also trying to run the automatic tests against @dan 's pull request, happy to fold that into here too if that seems like a good idea.
